Lisbon Area Health Services (LAHS) 60th
Anniversary
Like Dan Aykroyd, Liam Neeson, and
George Straight, Lisbon Area Health Services (LAHS) turns 60 years
old in 2012. To celebrate its diamond anniversary, the hospital is
inviting the community to share its fondest memories or well wishes
for posting on its web page.
Fill out the form at the right of this page and submit memories and well
wishes, along with any scanned or digital photographs taken over the
past 60 years that demonstrates LAHS’s service to the community.
Established on February 1, 1952, LAHS delivered 497 babies and
treated 998 patients by December 31, 1953. Over the next 60 years,
the hospital increased in size and added an array of programs,
services, and technological innovations, to meet the changing needs
of patients in the growing community.
Today, LAHS admits over 550 patients each year, performs roughly 288
surgeries, accommodates over 11,600 Outpatient Services (which
include Laboratory and Radiology visits). and treats nearly 2000
patients through its Emergency Department. Since 1952, the hospital
has built two expansions, added new services, including Cardiac
Rehab, Digital Mammography, and Respiratory Care.
Over and over again, we meet members of the Lisbon community who
tell us they were born at Lisbon Area Health Services, they had all
their babies here, or they were one of the first patients treated in
our Emergency Department. Now is your chance to share your stories
and help us celebrate our 60th Anniversary.
The hospital employs more than 115 individuals and adds more than $4.6 million in payroll to the community every year. They also have
provided more than $140,000 in Charity Care, showing their
willingness to help those who are in desperate need.
Looking towards the future, Lisbon Area Health Services will
continue to thrive because of the support from our patients, our
physicians, and the area communities. Lisbon Area Health Services
looks forward to providing the care you have come to trust and
expect for many years to come.
